Manuel D. “Manny” Medina is the Founder and Executive Managing Partner of Medina Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm focused on investments in dual-use technologies across artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and next-generation cybersecurity. In this role, Manny chairs the investment committee, provides strategic oversight, long-term vision, and institutional governance support to the firm, drawing on more than four decades of experience as a founder, operator, and investor in global technology and infrastructure businesses.
Manny is best known as the Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Terremark Worldwide, a global provider of managed IT infrastructure and secure data center services for enterprise and government customers. Under his leadership, Terremark built and operated the Network Access Point of the Americas, a critical interconnection hub serving multinational enterprises and public-sector clients. Terremark was publicly listed on NASDAQ and was acquired by Verizon Communications in 2011 for an enterprise value of $2 billion.
In addition to Terremark, Manny has founded and led multiple financial and technology platforms. He founded Medina Capital, an investment firm focused on cybersecurity and data analytics, and TransAtlantic Bank, a Miami-based financial institution that grew to approximately $700 million in assets prior to its sale to Banco Sabadell in 2007. He currently serves as a Board Member of Appgate Technologies, a global cybersecurity company specializing in Zero Trust Network Access solutions.
Manny is also the founder and chairman of eMerge Americas, a technology and innovation platform that has played a significant role in establishing Miami as a technology hub and fostering connections between entrepreneurs, investors, enterprises, and public institutions across the United States, Latin America, and Europe.
Earlier in his career, Manny worked internationally on large-scale infrastructure projects, including contracted work supporting critical infrastructure development in the Middle East in coordination with the U.S. government. He began his professional career as a certified public accountant at Price Waterhouse after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Florida Atlantic University. Manny immigrated from Cuba to the United States at the age of 13 with his family.
